Demand for Ukrainian apples reached 80,000 tonnes

Demand for Ukrainian apples at the Asia Fruit Logistiсa trade show in Hong Kong this year totalled 80,000 tonnes and cherries – 2,000 tonnes.

“After the show, demand for fresh apples – around 80,000 tonnes, fresh berries – around 1,000 tonnes, cherries – some 2,000 tonnes, and preserved berries – around 2,000 tonnes was seen,” Head of the Export Promotion Programme at Western NIS Enterprise Fund Vitaliy Bihdai told Interfax-Ukraine.

He said that on the first day of the show, held in September, Ukrainian producers received orders to supply 34,000 tonnes of apples harvested in 2017, including 14,000 tonnes for European buyers and 20,000 tonnes for Asian buyers.

In 2017, Ukraine first took part in the Asia Fruit Logistiсa show with their national stand.

“Thanks to the show, Ukrainian businessmen expanded their business contacts and received new orders,” Bihdai said.
