"If our customers grow, we are forced to do likewise"

Spain: Frutas E. Sánchez expanding in Mercamadrid with new facilities

The company Frutas E. Sánchez, which has been working in the production, export and import of horticultural products for almost 60 years, is expanding its facilities in Mercamadrid. The company's management team has confirmed that the new facilities will have an area of 10,500 m2 spread over three floors.

The building will serve as headquarters for the company's logistics operations. Moreover, it will be equipped with 5,000 m2 of cold storage rooms. One of the floors will be devoted specifically to the packaging and processing of fresh cut products. The central offices and the commercial department will be located in another 1,000 m2 within the new premises.

Ernesto Sánchez, commercial director of the company, affirms that they have made this decision "due to the growth that we have been experiencing in recent years. The construction of this new logistics platform will allow us to centralise our operations, making the distribution as quick and efficient as possible," and above all, he highlighted, "it will make it possible for our customers to have access to a wide range of products."

Regarding the location, Mercamadrid has been chosen by the horticultural company in order to cut costs and reduce the waiting time of its consumers during the distribution of goods. "Many of our clients are growing," affirms Sanchez, so "we are forced to do likewise and grow with them." The plan is for the construction to be completed by November 2018, at which time it will immediately become operational.

With the construction of its new logistics platform as the biggest news, the company will be present once again in the next edition of Fruit Attraction (H10D07), to be held between 18 and 20 October in Madrid.
