Wholesale Market of Malaga:

Spain: Canadian cherries for between 10 and 100 Euro per kilo

The high temperatures have advanced the start of the cherry campaign in Spain, the rest of Europe and Turkey. This has forced Malaga wholesalers and importers to have to resort to third countries in search of cherries, which are highly demanded among wealthy tourists.

In fact, imports have been arriving from Canada to cover the demand in August. They are transported by air and companies like Málaga Natural sell them for 10 Euro per kilo, although there are other distributors in the province that offer them for 100 Euro. Besides cherries, berries are another product in high demand at this time on the Costa del Sol.
