Jean-Pierre Caruel of Nergi

“We are expecting to sell 5 million punnets”

This year, Nergi plans to double its volume of Nergi kiwi berries as compared to last year. “Our sales operators PRIMLAND, PORTPRIMLAND and ORTOFRUIT ITALIA are expecting to sell more or less 5 million punnets of this berry fruit," says Jean-Pierre Caruel of Nergi. Their focus in Europe this year is on Germany. They expect to sell 50% of the 5 millions of punnets of Nergi to this country.

“Nergi berries in Germany is one of our top priorities this year”, says Jean-Pierre. They will supplying the large supermarkets chains in that country. They have, therefore, among other things, also created a Facebook page in German to enable them to reach a wider audience. This is in addition to their Italian, French and English pages. “We are trying to be much more efficient with regards to communication”, explains Jean-Pierre.

Jean-Pierre says “everything is going well” this season. Quality is good and they were not affected by the spring frost or high summer temperatures since the majority of their crops are covered by nets, and so protected from these elements.

Nergi’s two main markets, after Germany, are France and Italy. They are also expecting more interest from countries like Denmark, Sweden and the UK. This year they will also be selling to Canada and East Asian countries. Nergi also plans to up their volume next season to between seven and eight million punnets.

Through their facebook page they inform consumers about Nergi: www.facebook.com/nergi.berry.fruit
