Drop in apple production affecting prices in Ukraine

A decrease in Ukrainian apple production due to unfavourable weather conditions has already affected prices, according to Fruit-Inform.

Fruit-Inform expects Ukrainian apple production to go down by at least 8% in 2017.

Now Ukrainian growers are fixing their prices at EUR 0.20-0.43/kg, depending on quality, fruit size and variety, and prefer to maintain them at those levels in view of moderate demand.

However, despite rather moderate sales rates, current prices of Ukrainian apples are averagely 70% higher compared with the second half of August 2016, when they did not exceed EUR 0.23/kg.
