"The new pear season has already started, and will last until October. This year, the weather has been reasonable, without any natural disasters, so the pear production volume has grown by 20% compared to last year," according to Mr. Wang from Guanxian Dongyuan Agricultural Produce Co., Ltd.

"Our pear production sites are located in Guanxian in Shandong, and they comprise around 200 hectares (2000 mu). We produce golden pears, crown pears, Feng Shui pears, Ya pears, Beryl pears, Niitaka pears and Autumn pears. Half of our pears are exported under our brand 'Guanxian Dongyuan' to South-East Asia and South Asia (75%) and other areas abroad (25%). Currently, we are working to open the European and American market as well. The other half is sold through traditional sales channels to supermarkets and distributors in first tier cities in China."

"In the past few years, the foreign high end market has been revising its requirements for spoilage in imported pears. Because of this development, we are severely restricting our use of pesticides to improve our product quality. We believe that this will not be an obstruction for us in advancing the foreign market."
