Peruvian blueberries to enter the Chilean market

Peru's blueberries will be exported to Chile through the Andean country's National Agricultural Sanitation Service (Senasa).

The initiative will be possible thanks to a work plan signed by both South American nations after holding technical negotiations.

Within this framework, the agreement was the result of articulated efforts undertaken by Peru's Ministries of Agriculture-Irrigation and Foreign Trade-Tourism.

Prior to the signing, Senasa Head Jorge Barrenechea and Chilean Agriculture-Livestock Service (SAG) President Angel Sartori visited Hass avocado and blueberry production areas in northern La Libertad region.

Peruvian blueberry exports are expected to expand at least 23% this year, thus exceeding US$300 million, according to the Association of Peruvian Exporters.
