New 37 ha Bosnia-Herzegovina raspberry plantation

Last year Super Berries worked very hard on building a large raspberry plantation in Bosnia-Herzegovina (37 hectares). Top varieties of raspberries from the Netherlands and Switzerland are being grown here. These varieties are characterised by good flavour and an extra long shelf life and are offered fresh in Central and Northern Europe.

Top varieties
Super Berries aims for the best quality fresh raspberries for a reasonable price. The company takes the environment into account by using almost no plastics. As of the end of August the following four raspberry varieties can be supplied: Tulameen, Himbo Top, Mapema and Kweli. The shelf life of these varieties is long and the flavour is good.

Exceptional shelf life
Unlike most growers Super Berries has its own cooling installation directly on the plantation. After harvest the raspberries are brought back within 20 minutes and are chilled to 1 degree Celsius. This maintains the best shelf life, the Dutch varieties have an extreme shelf life of up to 10 days after harvest.

Bosnia
The cultivation of raspberries almost organically is very labour intensive. The level of unemployment in Bosnia is very high, one in two people are unemployed. By choosing Bosnia the local population can get work, which improves the living conditions. The plantation in the north of Bosnia has a favourable position for the quick supply of fresh raspberries in Central and Northern Europe.

Sales
To guarantee the cultivation quality and social conditions Super Berries is certified for Global CAP, GRASP and HAACP. The raspberries are supplied in 125 gram store packaging. Due to the shelf life, Super Berries transports the raspberries at 1 degree Celsius directly to the wholesaler, auction or store.
