Italy: Harvesting of Pgi table grapes form Mazzarrone started

"Nature needs time to give us its most precious fruits," said Gianni Raniolo, president of Consorzio di Tutela dell'Uva da Tavola di Mazzarrone Igp, while announcing the start of harvesting operations for what he defines as "the best grapes in the world."

"It's not important to arrive first, quality is what's important. We are in no rush, as we trust the quality of our productions and the relationship we have with our partners, who know us well and trust the fact we can wait for fruit to be perfectly ripe."

Quality is line with the best standards of Consorzio di Tutela dell'Uva da Tavola di Mazzarrone Igp. We started with the Black Magic and Vittoria varieties in greenhouses, which have a Brix level of 14-16 and 13-14 respectively.

"This year, quality is exceptional. Quantity is within the norm and bunches are well formed, regular and appealing. Feedback is great and our retail clients are also satisfied."

The produce is much appreciated and fears no competition, especially since it is always preferred to the one from overseas.

At the moment, the main outlets are Italy and some European countries such as France, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium. The first shipments to the Arab Emirates will start from mid-June, while seedless grapes will become available from 15th-20th June onward and will be destined mainly to northern Europe and Scandinavia.

"Our success is a testament to the quality of our grapes and their success on the market."
