USA pears launches Anjou pear social media contest

While many consumers don’t associate USA Pears with this time of year, US Anjou, Red Anjou and Bosc pears are still widely available now. (This is because, unlike fruits that ripen on the tree, these varieties of pears only ripen after several months rest in cold storage.) To encourage consumers to keep buying pears, Pear Bureau Northwest is launching the second annual #HowdoyouAnjou? social media contest.

The prize is a North Face Recon daypack and a set of pear protectors, for the adventurous pear lover to enjoy their pear anywhere. Winners will be chosen based on the creativity of their submission and can pick their pack. Men’s, Women’s or Unisex packs are available in a variety of colors and patterns. One prize will be awarded per hundred entrants. To enter is simple.

For a chance to win, users will follow @USAPears on Instagram, then snap and post a picture with their Anjou USA pear on Instagram, wherever and however they enjoy it, use the hashtag #HowdoyouAnjou and tag @USAPears in their post. Contest runs May 29 through June 30, 2017.

In the first #HowdoyouAnjou Instagram treasure hunt and contest in 2016, entrants submitted pear snack recipes, smoothie bowls and even pears posing near a waterfall. The winner made an adorable stop motion pear video, featuring the Anjou as a balloon floating up into the sky. The 2016 contest was recognized by Produce Business magazine as a Marketing Excellence winner.
