IPL acquires US-based Macro Plastics for $150M

IPL has announced that it will be acquiring Macro Plastics Inc., a US manufacturer of rigid plastic packaging, for US$150 million.

IPL describes Macro, based in Fairfield, California, as one of the largest manufacturer of rigid plastic bulk bins worldwide. The Montreal-based manufacturer of plastic injection moulded products, said the acquisition expands its footprint in the US and South American agricultural markets, and provide access to emerging industrial, automotive, food production and outdoor paving sectors.

The deal also broadens One51’s global presence. One51, a Dublin-based rigid plastics manufacturer, owns a 67% share of IPL. Macro operates three US plants in Fairfield, Calif.; Union Gap, Wash.; and Shelbyville, Ky. IPL operates six plants in Saint Damien, Que., Edmundston, Alta., Missouri, Ohio, Georgia and Minnesota.
