On 27 April, the first edition of the Chinese Cherry Production and Sales Convention was opened in Yantai, Shandong province. The convention was mainly organised by the China Gardening Association, the iFresh Asian Fruit Association (Shanghai Yixian Information and Technology), the Yantai City Agricultural Bureau, the China Agricultural Product Market Association and the Shandong Departement of Agriculture. The convention was also supported by the Yantai People's Government. The main theme of the convention was 'a harmonised supply chain: an innovative value chain'. The aim is to establish a complete supply chain for cherries, including an industry discussion platform; a meeting opportunity for production and marketing; product exhibitions and production base inspections. With the combination of these four fields, the development of the Chinese cherry industry is brought a step further by joint effort.

The general assembly also specially invited the Chinese market Commercial Manager of Shengkemeng (Shanghai) Fruit Trading, David Smith. Mr. Smith gave an overview of the global cherry supply and regional production conditions.
