China shows interest in new peach varieties from Lleida

Last Wednesday, an official delegation from the Chinese province of Jiangxi visited the farms of the company Sat Tros Nou-Viversa and the biogas plant of Almenar, Lleida, to learn about new peach varieties and biogas production.

The delegation, headed by Vice President Huang Zhangong, paid a visit to a farm where new varieties of peaches, paraguayo peaches, nectarines, platerines and apricots, patented by the company PSB Producción Vegetal SL, are grown, as reported by the Almenar Town Council in a statement.

Before visiting the companies and farms, the Chinese delegation was received at the Almenar Town Hall by the Mayor, Teresa Malla, and by the Councillor for Agriculture, Jordi Sanuy.

The meeting took place after officials of Sat Tros Nou-Viversa and PSB Producción Vegetal SL visited the city of Yingtan, in the Chinese province of Jiangxi, in November last year, to promote their new stonefruit varieties.

With this trade mission, organised by the Spanish entrepreneurs of Chinese origin Soun Lam and Apoc Lam, the managers of Sat Tros Nou-Viversa, Pere Magrí and José Sancho, hope to strike partnership agreements with the Chinese authorities for the production and marketing of the new stonefruit varieties in China.
