"The cherries from Yantai, planted in greenhouses and outdoor orchards will be available in the market in large quantities in middle April and May respectively. Last year, due to cold spells, the output of cherries in the region was greatly reduced. This year, however, the output will increase thanks to the absence of extreme weather. Thus, the price of cherries will be slightly higher than last year," said Mr. Jiang from Kailinnuo Network Technology Co. Ltd.
"The major cherry production regions in China include Yantai in Shandong Province, Dalian in Liaoning Province and multiple cities in Shanxi Province. Compared to the other places, Yantai boasts four distinct seasons without extreme weather and thus provides an ideal environment for the growth of cherries. In addition, with its large cultivated area and wide range of varieties, the cherry industry here has become a steadily growing production chain over the past decades. Therefore, cherries from Yantai are well-known across the country and thus enjoy stable sales in the domestic market."
"Our plantation is located in Yantai with a total area of over 10 acres. Here we have over 10 early or late ripening cherry varieties such as Meizao and Shuijingdeng. We sell most of our high-quality cherries under the trademark of Zhanggezhuang directly to end consumers from first and second tier cities on e-business platforms. The rest will be supplied to the wholesale market."
