Apple prices in Ukraine increased by 15-20% over the weekend
According to Info-Shuvar, today at WMAP "Shuvar”, the largest wholesale market in Western Ukraine, “Idared” apples are selling in bulk for 9-11 UAH/kg (0,31-0,37 EUR/kg), prices for apples "Golden" are 10-12 UAH/kg (0,34-0,41 EUR/kg). At MAP "Stolychnyi" in Kiev apples "Idared” are offered at a price 7,5 -9,5 UAH/kg (0,25-0,27 EUR/kg), prices for apples "Golden" are formed in the range of 9- 12 UAH/kg (0,31-0,41 EUR/kg).
"Prices for Ukrainian apples are increasing primarily due to the decrease in stocks of apples at small farms. According to our operators, manufacturers have increased apple sales in the first half of the season this year, because they were unsure whether, at the beginning of spring, prices would significantly increase. In addition, manufacturers sold more apples for processing in autumn," says Olesia Bodnar, manager of the platform for trade from vehicles at WMAP "Shuvar".
This information on apple price hikes in Ukraine was later confirmed by the "Weekly review of prices for apples" of Фруктовий Проект ТОВ “Fruktovyi Proekt” ("Fruit Project"), Ltd. Prices that Ukrainian manufacturers have for quality 65+ apples are, on average, within 8-11 UAH/kg (0,27-0,37 EUR/kg), depending on the variety and distribution channels. Today apples at Ukrainian wholesale markets are more expensive than in neighboring Poland.
According to the monitoring of "Fruit Project" experts, today at the wholesale market "Bronisze" Polish apples "Idared” are offered for 0,27-0,32 EUR/kg, and the price of apples "Golden" reached 0.28 -0,46 EUR/kg. For comparison, the German wholesale markets sell apples 'Idared' for 0,38-0,43 EUR/kg, apples "Golden" cost 0,48-0,50 EUR/kg.the
