In early March, the average price of strawberries at Mercasa's wholesale market network stood above that reached in the same period of 2015 and 2016, but its gradual decline as the campaign develops has led to it now falling below the level recorded in the past two years.
The first strawberry price this year was that of 3 March and stood at 2.52 Euro/kg, higher than the 2.26 Euro/kg on 4 March 2016 and the 2.36 Euro/ Kg of 3 March 2015.
Throughout the month, the average wholesale price has gradually fallen down to 2.45 Euro/kg on 7 March; 2.31 Euro/kg on the 10th; 2.20 Euro/kg on the 14th; 1.84 Euro/kg on the 17th; 1.66 Euro/kg on the 21st and 1.38 Euro/kg on 24 March, according to Mercasa.
The latter price is lower than the 1.69 Euro/kg of 25 March 2016 and the 1.56 Euro/kg of 24 March 2015.
