The spring campaign is already around the corner and seed companies are actively preparing for it. The cultivation of watermelons is very important for Níjar, so Semilleros El Plantel, in San Isidro, Almeria, is already preparing for the new season. Watermelon cultivation continues to expand in the province of Almeria, especially in the case of seedless black watermelons.
This was all explained by Noelia Robles, Marketing Manager of the company, in the blog of journalist José Antonio Arcos, who examined the different stages that watermelon seedlings go through, not only in Almeria, but also Seville, Murcia or La Mancha, among other places.
According to Noelia Robles, El Plantel expects to reach 16 million watermelon grafts this campaign, thus surpassing last year's 14 million. The seed company continues to specialise in this segment, with annual growth in recent campaigns close to 20%.
"Wherever there is watermelon cultivation in Spain, El Plantel has the right graft for the producer," stated Noelia.
