Spain: Uvasdoce to increase its production by 20%

At the recent edition of Fruit Logistica, the Alicantine company Uvasdoce, based in Monforte del Cid, presented its new farm, which will become productive this year. With this new production area, the producer, exporter and importer of table grapes will achieve its greatest growth in recent years. The farm, called 'La Negreta' and located very close to the rest of the company's farms, as well as to the handling and packing centre, has a total of 10 hectares. It will feature five new seedless grape varieties, two white and two red, as well as Uvasdoce's first black variety.

Besides this production growth, the company will expand its handling facilities for the second time since their inauguration in 2009. After setting up a new cold storage area with several pre-cooling tunnels and expanding the refrigerated chambers, Uvasdoce will introduce a third punnet packaging line with the most advanced software on the market. The firm took advantage of its presence at the international fruit and vegetable event to sign the contract for this new packaging line with 'Marco', a British company that is a pioneer in the manufacture of integral solutions for fresh produce plants. Thus, the table grape producer continues to invest in the improvement of its production processes and its facilities to offer its customers the best quality and a more personalised service.

Moreover, as part of its commitment to continue converting the area with seedless varieties, Uvasdoce's technicians held several meetings with different breeders of new varieties, not yet produced in Spain, to test them in the Vinalopó in the coming campaigns. With this, Uvasdoce remains a leading company in the area of varietal research and development.

Lastly, commercially speaking, Uvasdoce is consolidating as one of the main Spanish producers of seedless grapes, negotiating new programs with supermarkets in the countries where they are already established (the UK, Ireland, Spain, France, Scandinavia and South Africa, among others). Furthermore, they signed new agreements to introduce their products to large retailers in countries like Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Germany or Brazil, among others. It also reached agreements with growers from other producing areas to continue importing grapes in the months when it does not have its own production.

The Alicantine company is very happy about the outcome of its seventh participation in Fruit Logistica and wishes to thank its suppliers and customers for trusting them and helping them to grow day by day, for they are the engine to continue producing the best table grapes of the Valley of the Vinalopó and make it possible for these to reach every corner of the world with a guarantee of quality, flavour and properties.
