Peruvian blueberry exports grew by 148% in 2016

Blueberry exports from Peru amounted to US$241 million in 2016, which is a drastic boost from the US$97 million from 2015, up by 148% according to the Association of Peruvian Farming Producers (AGAP).

Among all fresh fruits traded, blueberries became the country's third-most exported product. Avocado shipments also experienced a significant rise by climbing from US$306 million (2015) to US$397 million (2016) with citrus fruits and bananas at 20% and 5% respectively.

AGAP also announced that blueberry exports also helped increase fresh fruit shipments by 13.2%. Fresh-vegetable exports also saw a rise, expanding by 4.4%, with asparagus leading the charge at US$420 million and onions at US$70 million.
