French breeder of Nectavigne® passes away

Born in a grower family in the French Drôme region, Mr René Monteux-Caillet developed his fruit production activities in South East France. Inquisitive and inventive, he built with passion and determination a successfull breeding program focused on apricot, peach and nectarine varieties adapted to the South East of France's growing conditions. His major innovation is a red flesh nectarine range, marketed under Nectavigne® brand name.

His innovative and successful breeding program was taken over by the company AC Fruit when Mr René Monteux-Caillet retired in 2007. All varieties of the program continue to be distributed worldwide by the French company Star Fruits Diffusion based in Avignon.

Monteuc-Caillet varieties are now grown in all of Europe and North Africa, but also in North and South America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

René Monteux-Caillet, aged 75, passed away after Christmas 2016. He will continue to live on in our memories with great respect.
