MGE receives Rainforest Alliance certificate in table grapes

Andhra Pradesh-based company Monsoon Green Earth (MGE) has become the first in India to receive certification for table grapes from the Rainforest Alliance, after fulfilling the guidelines set by the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN).

As a result, the group will be marketing its MGE and Mr Quality-branded table grapes in Europe with the Rainforest Alliance seal.

The company’s director of sales operations Girish Sarda said, as table grape production was quite intensive, conventional methods to address short production cycles could cause irreversible damage to the environment.

In response, MGE initiated a collaborative partnership model with farmers toward sustainable business for delivering products that enhance and sustain the world’s food as well as natural and social environments.

“We are betting that our customers will come to appreciate the effort we make to produce in an environmentally conscious and socially just way and that they will prefer our product over the large number of competitors in the market,” Sarda said.
