The professional agricultural organization ASAJA Murcia estimated that the rains affected between 15 and 20% of Murcia's table grape production, which caused the product to reach higher prices last Christmas.
As explained by the secretary general of ASAJA Murcia, Alfonso Gálvez Caravaca, "after the rains recorded in November, the Dominga variety suffered some rot problems in the area of Totana and Aledo, which was hit by the excess water. We believe that the rains have had a very negative impact on the table grapes that had yet to be harvested."
According to the head of ASAJA Murcia, "growers in both Murcia and Vinalopó in Alicante should receive very high prices for the table grapes this campaign and that is very positive news for them."

The head of ASAJA Murcia has also pointed out that "at our organization we are missing an effective brand image for our table grapes, as well as an interprofessional organization, which would be very beneficial to integrate and concentrate the supply and thus generate added value for the producers."
At the same time, Gálvez Caravaca stressed that "it is vital to carry out a solid campaign to promote Murcia's table grapes in the international market with support from EU funds and with the sector itself fully involved."
