The President of the Council of Administration of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Union, Arif Guney, opened the annual panel on black fig exports. He said that “Turkey produces 275 tons of figs from August to October. We are the leader in the worldwide ranking. Export is largely towards European countries. Over the last five years, Germany has been the top destination with 5,000 tons of black figs from Bursa, followed by Russia (3,000 tons), Great Britain (2,000 tons), France (1,900 tons) and the Netherlands (1,400 tons)”. In 2014, black Bursa fig exports reached 18,000 tons worth $43 million. Mr Guney said that Turkey was 4th place in general fruit exports.
