On Monday 14 November, a guided tour to the Best Fruit Processors, a joint venture between Schweppes Zimbabwe's Beitbriadje Juicing Co and the Agriculture and Rural Development Authority (ARDA) marked the end of the activities of the President of the SADC Parliamentary Forum (SADC-PF) in Harare, Zimbabwe.
As part of this project, the trials for mango and guava processing began in January and tomato paste is also produced on a large scale.
Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, the speaker of the Angolan National Assembly also learnt about a processor capable of producing approximately 100 tons of tomato per day, hence an experience to be taken into account in Angola.
He said it is a successful initiative as the fruit processing plant in Harare is close to the area under cultivation.
This particularity, he argued, allows producers to have guaranteed the use of their products.
Angola took up the presidency of SADC-PF, 19 years after its creation and replaced Tanzania.
