Early October, Schouten was able to deliver its first Octabin Filler to Sweden. In Sweden, potatoes in the supermarket are offered in octabins. Octabins are large octagonal boxes of 200 kg. In stores, an opening is made in the bottom of the octabin, through which the potatoes are sold individually.
The Octabin Filler is the complete system for automatic weighing, product-friendly filling and stacking of octabins. The machines consists of three parts: an elevator with a narrow track and a wide track, a scale for 2 boxes and a roller conveyor with an automatic stacker. The Octabin Filler has the capacity for 30 pallets with 2 boxes per hour, taking 2 minutes per pallet.
A 160 cm wide Schouten jump action grading machine, which sorts the potatoes in 4 sizes, was already delivered to the same client. Each sieve bed has a tipper. This addition ensures that potatoes that might get stuck, are tipped loose without being damaged.
