Israel fruit consumption highest in the world
A study was done in Israel into how much fruit the people consume. It turns out to be the highest in the world, 75 kilo per head of the population. The most popular fruits are: avocados, mangos, dates, kaki, pineapple and passion fruit.
Israeli fruit cultivation areas stretch over around 350,000 hectares. Around 4000 growers produce around 700,000 tonnes of 35 different kinds of fruit annually. Of this, 575,000 tonnes is used by the domestic market and 125,000 goes to export.
