Polish producer Elliot was founded in July 2011 as a cooperative of five growers specialised in the production of blueberries. Elliot Group produces blueberries from July to September and owns a total of 80 hectares, as explained by Dorota Zegota, who along with her husband Dariusz takes care of the marketing of the products. "Elliot's head office and plantations are in Bratkowice, in the province of Podkarpacie; an area with an ideal climate and soil to grow blueberries."
500 tonnes per year
The main goal of the Elliot Group is to reach the most relevant European standards. "To this end, quality and continuous development are very important," stresses Dorota. "We now have an annual production of 500 tonnes, which is increasing every year. This is because growers continue to plant, and more volumes are also naturally obtained per plant. Elliot's exports go mainly to England, but the firm is also interested in signing deals with importers from other European countries."
The group has invested in various facilities. In 2012, it opened its first logistics centre in Zolynia. "The next year, in June 2013, we purchased a building in Bratkowicach. In total, we now have a 2000 m2 logistics centre. These buildings are equipped with cold chambers, ULO storage and sorting and packaging lines. We are able to preserve the blueberries in October and November, so that the season can be extended."
