Ecua-Dehyd was advised by Pro Ecuador, entity which presented the consortium on 5 June.
The micro, small and medium firms that form Ecua-Dehyd are: Agroapoyo, Cevera Fruits, Sumak, Mikuy, Biolcom, Fruvesol and Álvaro Miño.
The consortium's main goal is to sell products with a high added value and, according to Pro Ecuador, to join forces and strengthen the firms' productive and international commercial capacity in the field of dehydrated products.
This is the third export consortium presented by Pro Ecuador this year. The first ones focused on the export of Fairtrade quinoa and plantain.
Since late 2012, Pro Ecuador has provided advice in the formation of consortia through the provision of methodologies, market research, the search of technological transfer opportunities, training and promotional events, both at national and international level.
10 to 15 tonnes of grapes, plantains, oranges, pineapples and mangoes are expected to be produced. They will initially be commercialised in a loose format, as the six firms still require a unique brand as part of a standardisation process for the consortium that is already underway.
