Mexico: Mango exports to US fall 3%

Mango exports to the US in week ending May 4, 2013 totalled approximately 2,356,387 boxes, 3% lower than in the previous week, according to figures released by the National Mango Board (NMB).

To date, Mexico has sent 19,370,151 boxes to the US Mango shipments for the next two weeks are expected to be of 1,921,370 and 1,692,781 boxes respectively.

The agency reported that the average price per box for Mexican Ataulfo variety at the entry port in Texas came down 9% compared to the previous week, reaching US$ 5.55.

The Haden and Tommy Atkins varieties experienced same situation. The average price per case of the first fell by 16% and the latter went down 12%, reaching US$ 4.33 and US$ 4.10 respectively.

In the case of the port of entry in Arizona, the average price per case of Tommy Atkins dropped by 12% compared to the previous week, to US$ 4.63.

Guatemala and Haiti

Shipments from Guatemala in the week that ended on May 4 totalled approximately 945,057 cases, 55% more than the previous week. So far the country has sent 4,809,175 boxes of the fruit.

Projections for the next two weeks are of 350,000 and 150,000 cases respectively.

Meanwhile Haiti dispatched some 176,920 cases, 21% more than the previous week.
