Organic bitter orange producers praise Seipasa's treatment's efficiency

Rocio and Amadora Gahona are leading an organic farm of bitter orange in the south of Spain. They are the second generation of a business that their mother started more than 40 years ago and that focuses its production on exporting to European countries for the production of marmalade, especially to England and Ireland. They have worked almost exclusively with products of Seipasa for several years, "both for the effectiveness of their treatments and the personalised customer service given by their technicians."

Bitter orange farm in Seville

Rocio and Amadora's farm produces one million kilos of organic bitter orange a year, mostly for export. Their oranges are especially appreciated for the production of marmalade in England, as evidenced by the fact that last year they won in the World's Original Marmalade Festival in England and that, this year, they've been invited to give a lecture about their farm and ecological production.

Back in the 80's, upon seeing the results of aggressive chemical treatments on oranges, Rocio and Amadora's mother pioneered the start of the production of organic bitter oranges. In fact, it was the first farm of these characteristics in all Spain.

Many things have changed since then, a time when not even the Andalusian Committee for organic farming (CAAE) existed. The managers of this estate say that, both in Europe and in Spain, controls to ensure ecological production are very strict. "Although we have worked with British companies for many years working, we are sure that they still check the quality of each batch to see if it complies with the parameters required for organic production," they explained.

Relationship with Seipasa

The farm began working with Seipasa almost four years ago. They knew about the company because of its links to the CAAE and the recommendation of other producers that were already using Seipasa's products. One of the most prominent features of Seipasa's treatments is their effectiveness, "as opposed to other organic products that we had tested previously, without satisfactory results," said the managers. They also greatly appreciate working with the technicians of the company because, "you know that they are people who understand the countryside, enjoy their work and really help you out."

Regarding zero waste production, RocĂo Gahona is convinced it is the future. "It's very difficult to feed the world's population via organic production, but it could be done with Zero Waste production. It is the future. "
