China: Baby shaped pear plan goes pear shaped

A plan to give pears publicity in China by growing them in molds to make them baby shaped has gone pear shaped! Consumers were supposed to be attracted to the novelty pears, but instead have reported finding them too cute to eat.

The pears have been branded as Lucky baby Pears, after a Chinese legend about a ginseng tree that grows baby shaped roots.

However, the plan seems to have been unsuccessful, with large volumes of the strange fruit left on the shelves.

One shopper explained: "How could anyone bear to eat them. They're too cute. I'd feel terrible."
