Seminars to address key challenges and future opportunities in industry

PMA Fresh Connections in Mexico and Chile

Members of the fresh produce industry in Chile and Mexico have a chance to connect and network at two upcoming PMA Fresh Connections events in April and May. The programs will explore retail and supply chain opportunities and challenges as well as future impacts on the industry. These events bring together the fresh produce supply chain from growers to exporters to wholesalers to retailers and provide a unique and valuable opportunity to build relationships and exchange information.

PMA Fresh Connections Chile will offer an overview of opportunities and evolutions in the retail sector, explore future challenges, and analyze ways to increase productivity. Attendees will hear from a variety of subject experts including: Gary Hahn, senior sourcing director for South America at Wal-Mart discussing the Wal-Mart global sourcing strategy; Rodrigo Tapia of Cencosud, sharing the Cencosud approach to Latin America; and Leonardo Miyao of Grupo Pao de Acucar, uncovering new opportunities in Brazil’s market. Participants will look to the near future with PMA’s Johnna Hepner, discussing the FSMA regulations’ effect on the supply chain, along with speakers focusing on how to tackle cost increases with robotics and mechanization and the impact of climate change.

PMA Fresh Connections Mexico, organized in partnership with Meister Media Worldwide (MMW), will focus on trends and opportunities in a variety of markets. A range of subject-matter experts will share their expertise including: PMA’s Bryan Silbermann and PMA Current Board Member Jim Corby discussing retail trends in North America; Gustavo Yentzen of Portal Fruticola exploring the most pressing questions about the global economy and its affect on exporters; and a powerhouse retail panel moderated by Luis Felipe Moreno of Grupo PM looking at trends and opportunities in the Mexican market. Attendees will also be brought up-to-date on government and regulatory changes especially concerning the new FSMA regulations.
