Thai Longan in peak season at Exoriens

Thai longan exports have grown steadily over the past decade. They now account for over 80% of the world market. State-sponsored farm management training and post-harvest research has encouraged year-round production by Thai farmers, with the peak volumes harvested between July and September. Five of the country’s six major geographic regions are engaged in commercial longan farming.

Exoriens Co., Ltd. (Thailand) specializes in exporting Thai longan from the company’s certified contract farms to countries with strict phytosanitary conditions and pesticide residue limits. Such countries typically have long transit times from Thailand, and include: US, Australia, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Italy, and New
Zealand.

Thai longan is best packaged in plastic baskets, which allow for circulation and proper cooling during sea transport. Transit times in excess of 30 days are acceptable when the correct post-harvest techniques are applied.
