Market news from week 23

Germany: The price of strawberries is falling in Germany

In week 23 there were almost exclusively German strawberries on the market. Italy was not at all present and there were only small amounts coming from Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium. The cool, fluctuating weather meant inconsistency in quality. There was a delay in demand. Due to these factors, the prices bottomed out at 60 to 80 cents per 500 gram. The higher quality strawberries were able to come out on top. Towards the weekend the prices began to rise again with the arrival of better quality product on the market.
