AU: Great results for almond harvest
Even though their orchards were drenched by more than 250 millimetres of rain last month, crops managed to escape serious damage.
Griffith grower Gary Carlon hopes to send away 260 tonnes of almond kernel for processing in South Australia and says the quality is surprising.
"The growing season up to half way through the harvest was good, no sort of hiccups really," he said.
"Then we copped all the rain there on the 3rd or 4th of March, the almonds held up fairly well and I'm fairly happy with the end result."
