Grape producer doubled European exports of ARRA 15 variety in 2016
2016 proved to be an excellent year for Coopexvale. Due to increased demand, Coopexvale claimed to have more than doubled its export of ARRA 15 to the European markets.
One of Brazil's main grape cooperatives, Coopexvale, is made up of twenty-one grape growers, nineteen of whom produce ARRA 15. The cooperative offers support to the growers who share the same cold storage facilities, quality control and marketing services.
Coopexvale has an estimated general annual grape production of 29 tons per hectare. However, thanks to the fact that ARRA 15 is rain resistant, Coopexvale produces ARRA 15 in two cycles a year and this increases production up to 50 tons per hectare annually.
Towards the end of 2016, Coopexvale's Export Manager and Agronomist, Alysson Barbosa Vieira, visited all of Coopexvale's European customers to listen to their feedback regarding the quality of the products they received. Alysson was left with a very favorable impression, recalling: "At the time of the visits, virtually all our customers were satisfied with ARRA 15 and would like to receive more in 2017. I was very impressed with the quality; the grape was clean, strong and stems were still green even after 30 days of harvest."
As well as being a great success in the European markets, ARRA 15 is thriving in Brazil's local market according to Coopexvale. As Alysson notes: " The variety fits very well in the domestic market. In addition to being very fertile, it resists the rains that fall during the first half of the year; as a result, we can supply the market during every week of the year. The Brazilian consumer has great preference for berries with a long shape, so ARRA 15 also has this advantage over the other varieties."
The Coopexvale team will be visiting Fruit Logistica in Berlin next week and their ARRA varieties will be presented at the Grapa exhibit, Hall 2.2, A-03.
