China welcomes first Australian stonefruit

On Tuesday November the 15th, a delegation of the Australian Government Department of Agriculture together with the Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister, Luke Hartsuyker, welcomed some of the first Australian nectarines into China.

The delegation visited the iFresh exhibition, currently hosted in Shanghai. In his role as Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Hartsuyker stressed the importance of the Chinese market for Australian fresh produce. He also praised the quality of Australian fruits, the skills of the growers and the high standards of food safety.

The delegation was welcomed by John Moore from Summerfruit Australia. The organisation has done much to lobby for market access and to promote Australian stonefruit in China. Summerfruit Australia will, under John Moore, monitor the market closely in the coming week, by visiting the major import hubs in Mainland China.
