Dubai has recently launched a new food testing laboratory at the Vegetable and Fruit Market in Warsan.
His Excellency Eng. Dawood Al-Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said that this new laboratory is a testament to the improvement of food health and safety, as well as of the great efforts made by the municipality to improve the performance of its laboratories and contribute to guaranteeing quality and safety controls in line with international standards. He also said that the Dubai Central Laboratory of the Dubai Municipality has become a distinguished model in the region and at a global level.
The Director General of Dubai Municipality said: "We always strive to develop our services to stay up to date with recent scientific developments when it comes to the inspection of food products, in particular to ensure that they are free of any contaminants or materials that violate the UAE and international standards.
The new laboratory has obtained the international accreditation certificates ISO 17025: 17 (for accreditation of testing and calibration laboratories), ISO 45001: 18 (for occupational safety and health management systems), and ISO 14001: 15 (for environmental management systems).
