Argentina: Coca-Cola is interested in blueberries from Tucuman

Governor Juan Manzur and the Minister of Productive Development, Luis Fernandez, held a meeting with David Lee, the president of the Reginald Lee bottler (of "La Coca") and with Esteban CarreƱo, the executive director of the Association of Argentine Coca-Cola Manufacturers.

After the meeting, Lee stated: "The Governor is a friend and Coca-Cola is always working with Tucuman, we are big consumers of citrus fruits, such as lemons and oranges, and the essential oils that this province produces."

In addition, Lee said that the firm plans to increase the production of essential oils that are exported from Tucuman and to improve the citrus production. "We also want to work with other raw materials such as blueberries, which Tucuman produces, to create innovative products," he said.

"We spoke about the possibility of incorporating some of the flavors that Tucuman produces, for example by making blueberry and strawberry juice, so that our production can continue to find alternative markets," Minister Luis Fernandez said. "Tucuman has a relevant place in the Coca Cola company as 80% of the citrus oil it uses comes from this province," he said.
