Turkey boosts lemon exports to Russia

Turkey resumed lemon shipments to Russia in October, marking the first delivery since May. According to RIA Novosti, the shipment reached a value of US$14.5 million, the highest recorded in almost three years. The previous batch had been valued at US$136,000.

Ankara had restricted lemon exports earlier in the year due to frost damage. In October, Turkey increased its lemon export value 4.5 times month on month, reaching US$65.7 million. Earlier in 2024, Moscow was reported to have made a record purchase of Turkish lemons.

Lemon exports from Abkhazia to Russia also more than doubled this autumn. Meanwhile, retail lemon prices in Russia increased by 44 per cent year on year.
