Ariana Afghan Airlines will introduce dedicated air cargo services to support the export of Afghanistan's fresh and dried fruits to international markets.
The initiative was discussed during a meeting in Kabul chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Economic Deputy of the Office of the Prime Minister. Senior officials from several ministries and government agencies attended to review strategies for expanding fruit exports via air transport.
To ensure timely shipments, Ariana Afghan Airlines has been instructed to begin transporting fruit exports at cost price, without profit margins. In parallel, negotiations are taking place with international cargo companies to arrange charter flights as part of a short-term export strategy.
The Islamic Emirate has also committed to financing the purchase of two cargo aircraft for Ariana Afghan Airlines. In addition, the Chamber of Commerce and Investment has been directed to consult with traders to assess the creation of a dedicated air cargo company to provide longer-term stability.
Government agencies involved in the programme have been tasked with preparing detailed progress reports for the Economic Deputy's office. These measures form part of wider efforts to strengthen Afghanistan's export infrastructure and support the agricultural sector.
