Hydroponic strawberries added to 2026 product lineup

Gem-Pack Berries, LLC is launching its hydroponic strawberries, joining its product line up, in 2026. A first harvest of a limited planting of hydroponic strawberries was planted in the spring, and test harvests of the current supply from Watsonville have shown promising results.

These strawberries are cultivated in pots above ground using a two-tiered rack system in high tunnel facilities. Water and nutrients are delivered directly to the roots through a precision irrigation system. This farming method enhances plant health and makes harvesting easier and less laborious.

Sustainability is at the core of everything the company does. Hydroponic farming significantly reduces water usage and minimizes pesticide intervention while not impacting taste and quality. These berries reflect the company's commitment to delivering the most sustainably grown, flavorful fruit.

In 2026, the company will harvest both hydroponic strawberries in California and blueberries in Central Mexico. By shifting our operations down south, it will be able to ensure a steady supply of hydroponic strawberries and blueberries in the spring. The hydroponic berries will be ready to meet the demand of consumers for springtime celebrations.
