1,4Sight is the innovative growth regulator registered in Italy and 25 other European countries to prolong potato dormancy and inhibit sprouting during storage. The active substance, 1,4-dimethylnaphthalene (1,4-DMN), is a volatile organic compound that occurs naturally in potatoes, so much so that it can be extracted directly from the tuber skin.
"Although synthetically produced, the active ingredient used in the formulation of 1,4Sight acts exactly like the natural phytohormones found in potatoes by triggering the production of enzymes that prolong tuber dormancy, and consequently inhibit sprouting. Therefore, thanks to its action mechanism, 1,4Sight limits starch degradation processes, reduces tuber weight loss, and preserves the quality of the skin during storage, thereby maintaining potato firmness with positive effects on resistance to mechanical damage during and after storage," explains Ciro Lazzarin of Agri2000.

1,4Sight is also certified as "Carbon Neutral", meaning the CO2 resulting from the production process is completely offset by removal and reduction actions. The application of 1,4Sight in warehouses is carried out immediately after storage with a thermonebuliser specifically developed for its application, capable of atomising the product into very fine particles (less than 2 μm) that guarantee perfect distribution on the tubers.
The preventive effect of 1,4Sight also allows higher storage temperatures with energy-saving advantages. The safety of 1,4-dimethylnaphthalene has also recently been confirmed by the Codex Alimentarius, the set of international standards that guarantee the safety of world food trade.
