Panjshir begins cherry exports to India with 50t ready

Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakim, governor of Panjshir, Afghanistan, has noted the recent decision by fresh fruit traders to export cherries from the districts of Shutul, Dara, Abshar, Paryan, and Hesa-e-Awal to India. Local administration is reported to extend comprehensive cooperation for the export process. Support for the private sector is stressed, with instructions given to Industry and Commerce, Economy, and related institutions to facilitate exportation, in alignment with the economic priorities of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

Traders have indicated that cherries from additional remote districts will follow with standardized packaging for export. Saifuddin Laton, spokesperson for the Panjshir provincial administration, has stated that coordination and easing of transfer processes to Indian markets was the primary agenda of recent discussions. He confirmed that, currently, 50 tons of cherries from Dara, Abshar, Shutul, and Hesa-e-Awal are ready for export.

In prior instances, approximately 100 tons of cherries from Panjshir's center had reached Central Asian markets. Some orchard owners from Panjshir have acknowledged the export initiative as impactful for local economic stability and future agricultural development.
