Ailimpo has appointed agronomist Joaquín Rubio as its new president. The organization alternates its presidency between its production branch and its trade/industry branch. The current president, José Hernández Hernández, will continue as vice-president.
Joaquín Rubio was born in 1980. He is an agronomist, professional farmer, and lemon grower. He has been the president of Cooperativa El Limonar de Santomera since 2023 and represents Cooperativas Agroalimentarias in Ailimpo.

"I am taking on the presidency of Ailimpo with great enthusiasm and responsibility. I will represent the organization in a manner consistent with my convictions as a farmer and cooperative member. I believe in Ailimpo's current project, and I hope my work enriches it," Rubio stated.
This new stage of Ailimpo will be marked by the development of the ongoing strategic plan, structured on the two transversal pillars (lobbying and communication) and four work axes (sustainability, competitiveness, innovation, and promotion).
The main challenges are adapting lemon and grapefruit cultivation to climate change, addressing labor availability, having enough quality water at an adequate cost, and guaranteeing the profitability of all the links in our sector, he stressed.
Rubio highlighted the role of the inter-branch organization as a useful structuring instrument for the sector. "Ailimpo must be the nexus between the different links in the sector to guarantee the sector's profitability. It must also unequivocally defend the interests of lemon and grapefruit professionals before the different administrations, maintaining its independence and professionalism as it has done so far," he stated.
