"PND, which specializes in the design and manufacture of fruit processing machines, has developed the SM2 for the processing of pomegranates," says the manager. "The machine, launched in September 2023, has achieved great success, with 20 units sold both in Italy and abroad, in particular in Italy, India, Cyprus, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, where a system complete with washing tank has been installed."

The SM2 sheller has a production capacity of 4/6 fruits per minute and a stainless steel structure. Compact and easy to use and operate, it is manually loaded and is ideal for small and medium-scale production.
"In terms of functionality, the product is manually cut in half and loaded into the two processing units through a membrane, a mechanical system that moves the lever that intermittently taps the fruit, separating the intact arils from the skin," adds Mercurio. "The machine can be sold individually or as an assembly with a wash tank, cutting table, and product discharge belt. The SM2 has compact dimensions."

All the components are easy to replace and the parts that come into contact with the fruit are made of food grade materials. Cleaning and maintenance are therefore quick and easy due to the minimal presence of mechanical components.

The SM2 will be on display again this year at the Macfrut in Rimini (Italy) from 6 to 8 May (Hall B1 Stand 195), where it will be possible to see it in use.
