Paul Huish - AAA Growers

"We are very fortunate to be able to take advantage of the early and late season when the market is empty"

The Kenyan avocado export season usually opens on the 24th March when permission is granted from the export authority based on dry matter, this year however the season was running a month late.

Most Kenyan avocado producers finish picking in September, but AAA Growers' farm located in Nyahuru is situated in a very unique location with it's own microclimate thus it can produce very late avocados.

"We finish harvesting at the end of October," said Paul Huish, Senior Commercial Manager at AAA Growers.

"We ship from Mombasa to Rotterdam in 24 days and this season we have had double the volume of last year. In the early and late parts of the season the market was great, but sadly July and August was a disaster with Peru loading huge volumes with some weeks 1000 containers arriving in the EU."

"We are very fortunate to be able to take advantage of the early and late parts of the season when the market is empty and prices are strong. This is every grower's dream!"
