It’s only early January and trade shows are already back on the radar. Throughout the year, the team of Catalytic Generators travels the world and exhibits at tradeshows everywhere. “However, regional shows offer a lot of value as well,” says Greg Akins, President & CEO of the company. “These shows give us a chance to meet current customers and potential clients that do not have the time to make it to the national shows like IFPA,” Akins added. “Many growers and packing houses have down time in winter when these regional shows are held, making it attractive to them to visit.” While smaller, Akins sees a lot of value in the ability to reach regional show attendees and show them the latest developments in ethylene generators and quality assurance tools.
This week, the company will be exhibiting at the Southeast Regional Fruit and Vegetable Conference in Savannah, GA. Following that show is the Mid-Atlantic Fruit & Vegetable Convention that will be held from January 31 until February 2 in Hershey, PA. A week later, it’s the Alabama Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association’s turn with their annual event in Gulf Shores, Alabama. “All these shows offer a great experience for that region’s growers and packers,” mentioned Akins. “Not only is there the trade show we exhibit at, but there are also great educational and training sessions that bring many to these conferences.” Attendees can earn certificates for food safety training, learn about new growing techniques, how to better market their products, and receive updates on labor management.

Maturity testing and temperature management
The audience at the regional shows is also very different from the type of visitors attending national and international events. “We see a lot more growers at the regional shows,” commented Akins. “While we don’t see quite as many attendees that need ethylene for ripening, many are searching for solutions in maturity testing or temperature management.” As a result, the products of sister company QA Supplies are a big hit with these attendees.
A selection of products Catalytic Generators & QA Supplies will have on display at these regional shows include:
- Products for maturity testing: fruit firmness, refractometers to determine BRIX of fruit, sizers, and dry matter.
- Temperature solutions like Wi-Fi or cellular-based remote monitors for cold storage, and pulp thermometers. These vary from inexpensive pocket pulp thermometers to high-end, super-fast, high accuracy ones.
- Water quality and pH solutions.
- Ethylene generators and Ethy-Gen II Concentrate for those who need to apply ethylene for fruit ripening or citrus degreening.
Halo Bluetooth Food PH Meter and Ensure ATP Luminometer.
WiFi temp logger and digital refractometer.
