2022 was characterized by dry weather with summer temperatures (37-40°C) that negatively affected the biological cycle of kiwifruit.
Some analyses were carried out in a company in the Agro Pontino area (Latina) where the Hayward and Supplì green kiwifruit varieties are grown to verify their production and organoleptic properties.
Supplì kiwifruit flowers
In 2021, the orchard was hit by a heavy hailstorm. In 2022, the Hayward production was 30% lower than in 2021 while quantities of Supplì kiwifruit were the same, i.e. 130 kg per plant or 41 quintals per hectare. The weight of the fruits was 90-100 grams on average.

Harvesting was carried out in November when the Brix level was 6.5. Checks were carried out to verify the organoleptic qualities of the fruits.

Suplì kiwifruits had a better flavor with respect to the previous year. Plants had no symptoms of illness nor loss of leaves and branch development was good.
Supplì kiwifruits
Supplì kiwifruits have anti-allergic properties. Every year, tests are carried out with people allergic to Hayward kiwifruits, a New Zealand variety grown on an international level.
