The Turkish grape season is in full swing and Turkish exporter Hatipoglu Tarim is facing the busiest month of the season, as export specialist Cihan Kocar explains: “We’re seeing very high demand for our grapes right now. When looking at the overall season, our export quantities will be similar to last year. However, last year our busiest month happened in August. As it looks now, this year September will be our peak month in terms of exports. Orders are mostly coming in from the European market, the Maldives and countries in the Middle-East. The quality of the grapes seems on a good level as well, comparable to last year. The most popular varieties seem to be Crimson and Sultana seedless grapes.”

With many European countries dealing with an energy crisis, Hatipoglu Tarim will not be as affected by the increasing costs of electricity: “The Turkish grape season started in July and will last until the end of October. However, we’ll have stored sufficient grapes in our cold rooms by then, so we'll still be exporting the grapes in November as well. Although the energy costs have gone up, we will not be affected as much by this increase. Three years ago, we invested in solar panels, which will cover a lot of the energy that is required for storing the grapes in our cold rooms.” Kocar concludes.
